Colorado Independent: Denver Faith Coalition Speaks out Against Anti-Immigrant Ballot Measure
We Believe Colorado urges all Denver voters to vote "no" on Initiated Question 100, a ballot initiative that will require police officers to impound the vehicles of unlicensed drivers "suspected of being an illegal alien." The vehicle may be recovered only after the individual has paid a $2500 bond which will be held for a year.
This proposed ordinance is unnecessary and mean-spirited. It is contrary to the values, principles and articles of faith held in common by Denver’s spiritual and religious communities.
The ordinance will encourage racial profiling and places undue financial hardship on communities of color and immigrants. Please join We Believe Colorado and vote no on Initiated Question 100 on your primary ballot this August 12.
